Deslizamiento (Slippage)
Descripción
El deslizamiento ocurre cuando hay una disparidad entre el precio anticipado de una operación y su precio de ejecución real. Este fenómeno se observa comúnmente durante períodos de alta volatilidad en el mercado o al usar órdenes de mercado, especialmente si el tamaño de la orden excede el volumen disponible al precio deseado. Dado que los precios de mercado pueden cambiar rápidamente, el deslizamiento puede ocurrir en el tiempo que lleva procesar una orden.
El deslizamiento es un fenómeno reconocido en varias plataformas de trading, y las circunstancias específicas pueden variar según el entorno de trading.
Emplear una orden limitada puede mitigar el riesgo de un deslizamiento indeseado al establecer un precio máximo o mínimo de ejecución; sin embargo, esta estrategia corre el riesgo de que la orden no se ejecute si los precios de mercado no vuelven al límite establecido.
Es importante destacar que el deslizamiento no es inherentemente negativo ni positivo; simplemente refleja cualquier variación entre los precios esperados y los precios reales. Imagine un trader de forex que busca comprar EUR/USD, notando la cotización actual en 1.1050/1.1052. El trader decide entonces ingresar una orden de mercado con la esperanza de comprar a 1.1052. Justo cuando se envía la orden, noticias favorables del mercado llevan a una rápida apreciación del EUR frente al USD, empujando brevemente el precio de demanda a 1.1048 antes de estabilizarse. La orden de mercado, beneficiándose de esta repentina caída, se ejecuta al precio de demanda más bajo de 1.1048, resultando en un deslizamiento positivo de 0.0004 por unidad. Para una operación de 10,000 unidades, este deslizamiento positivo ahorra al trader $4.00.
